At CaKe, there are few genres we love photographing more than portraits, and making portraits of performers are near the top of that list. When an ex-colleague approached me to make some photographs for purposes of entering a contest, I couldn’t say no; not when the ex-colleague in question is Naoko Enomoto, Miss Pole Dance Singapore 2010.
The session itself was the shortest portrait session I have ever done: it took all of 20 minutes. Setting up and tearing down the lights took much longer! Before the shoot, Naoko was apprehensive, saying that she is not a model and isn’t used to being in front of the camera.
But she needn’t have worried. I told her to just bring her stage presence, as a performer, as a champion, because that is what I wanted to capture on camera.
She definitely brought her A-game, wouldn’t you say?
